Sweet, just watched all the trailers. I like free stuff :).
ROFL
That pretty much summed him up well, wow, nice find +bubbles
I don't think it's a good game (I don't know how you thought I thought it is a good game to be honest) But a lot of people on this site seemed to think so, although reviewers universally panned the game.
More like Lu Bu will be popping out of the screen and coming directly for you on the couch...scary *shudders*.
No, here's the difference. I WANT the game to SUCCEED. I WANT this game to be recognized AS THE DEFINITIVE racing experience that people will instantly recognize once they think of a racer. But right now, it isn't and that is a fact (at least not worldwide. I know Europe already has that fanaticism, but the US still lacks it).
It will sell 5 to 6M lifetime. GT5P had a couple iterations (original, A-Spec, and another one I can't remember), which prompted re-purcha...
This topic has NOTHING to do with Adam Sessler and his views of inflated egos. I don't have any clue WHATSOEVER how you can associate that, because it is completely separate from this discussion.
YOU may be happy playing the same thing over and over again, but I've already read comments from GTPlanet and other sites about how disappointed they are in the features and lack thereof.
As for pop culture, GT5 ISN'T. It is on the cusp, but it isn't....
Unless each reviewer comes out and says how many hours they played to review it, I don't believe you (unless you can convince those said reviewers to relay that information).
I guess you don't understand how all products need to evolve and continuously innovate to survive. Making GT what GT is again and again will eventually get dull and the market will react as much.
For instance, Need for Speed was a 2-3M instant and proven hit year after year. Then look what happened: they stuck with the formula TOO long and the sales went down and down and down, before NFS:Shift breathed enough life into the franchise to survive.
Look at ...
Here is the thing about pop-culture phenomenon games: they embody community and simplicity/accessibility. Halo 3 and COD MW reached this status due to these core aspects. I honestly think Gran Turismo can reach that benchmark as well, but there should be some additions that I would recommend for the game.
(1) Overhaul the menu system and streamline the approach. One of the things that really turn off gamers is the cumbersome menus and trying to find things that are tucked awa...
And I am pretty sure, Sony wants more sales so they can use that money to develop new and better games and also bring them into the black rather than suffering loss after loss each quarter.
Although Gran Turismo 5 has not received as much reviews as Forza 3, it is already telling of what the score will average out to be. Remember, metacritics takes a weighted average of all scores, and the bigger websites like IGN, GamePro, and GameInformer, carry more weight than say one of Eurogamer's derivative sites such as Eurogamer.portugul. Thus, since the majority of the bigger sites scored GT5 within the 8 to 9 range, it will undoubtedly fall well within that range.
It's really not bashing, but reality. The PS3 could have completely destroyed the competition when it first came out. However, numerous missteps along the way prevented that from happening.
But regardless, the PS3 has been doing well all the way. It will not produce the godly numbers the PS2 had, but it will do respectably well given this console generation's tendencies.
That's a lie, I know you are a fanboy!!! (just kidding)
I mean no offense as well. I came off a little hard on my comment and I apologize for that. I am just very critical of good solid and fair arguments.
But for me, regardless of which platform, both games are great like you said. It just depends on what the individual can afford and prefer.
I don't understand why CVG is taking pieces from Eurogamer's interview.
Here is the link to the FULL interview from Eurogamer:

Let me clarify, I meant open environment = mountainous backdrop from the Forza 3 screenshot.
Why isn't he comparing an urban backdrop from GT5 with an urban backdrop from F3? And further, why isn't he comparing a mountainous region backdrop from GT5 with a mountainous region backdrop from F3? Seems only fair in my eyes.
Is that clear enough for you two?
Also @ Biggest, don't belittle me and act as though I'm stupid. It does n...
Well said, you need more bubbles (+)
You're comparison is flawed and totally skewed. Why are you comparing an open environment track screenie to an urban city screenie? You should compare them like for like. Doing it like this completely voids you're argument.
If anyone is curious or wants to read more, Eurogamer has the full interview with former SCEE Executives. They have a lot of interesting things to say about the PS2 and the PS3's future. Here is the link:

I'd like for you to point out specific comments that he made where he is trolling. But, I bet you will find no proof of him trolling at all. Get over it.
I really think people here are reading the quote out of context. Although it would appear to be an inflammatory statement meant to bash GT5, I see it differently (probably because I have learned about these marketing tactics/statements through Business School). Shift 2 is trying to capture a piece of the racing genre fanbase. As a result, they do not want to try and emulate GT5's massive amounts of cars, but rather emulate a driver's experience INSIDE the car. Thus, there will be grap...
